In P4-P7 the pupils engage in a programme called Accelerated Reader. The children read books and use this programme to test their understanding of the book. The programme is a great way to motivate and engage children in reading. One feature the children enjoy is the word count. Each child profile calculates the number of words read from each book where the child has passed a quiz. In P5 it is quite unusual to get a 1,000,000 word count, especially so early on in the year!
