Today in Ballymacrickett Primary School and Nursery Unit we decided to wear our odd socks to celebrate World Down Syndrome Awareness Day.
Every year people all around the world come together to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by wearing brightly coloured, mismatched socks. This is a very special date as it symbolic of the fact that people with Down syndrome have 3 copies of their 21st chromosome and therefore we celebrate this on the 21st March each year.
This year the key message was ‘With Us Not For Us’.
